WILLIAM C. STEVENS
of Shoreham, Addison County, Independent, was born in Rochester, New York on March 29, 1955. Will attended Beloit College in Wisconsin in 1973-74, took several years "off," moved to Vermont in 1977 and earned his B.A. from the University of Vermont in 1980 (Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa). He graduated from Woodbury College's Mediation/Conflict Management Certificate program in 2004, and the Snelling Center's VLI program in 2005. Will and his wife Judy (DeCell) began growing organic vegetables commercially in Monkton in 1981 and moved to Shoreham in 1984. There they established Golden Russet Farm, a certified organic vegetable and greenhouse operation which was named Vermont's "Sustainable Farm of the Year" for 2004. They have three children, Freeman (20), Pauline (17), and Anna (15). Past community service includes: Vermont Organic Farmers president; after-school soccer coach; Shoreham Selectboard member; Middlebury College Winter Term visiting instructor. Current positions include: Shoreham Town Moderator, Shoreham Planning Commission member, Middlebury Farmers Market president. Member of the House: 2007-2008. Home phone: 897-7031.
