The presiding officer of each polling place must also post a copy of the warning and notice, sample ballots and the current checklist in a conspicuous place in each polling place before the polls open on election day. 17 V.S.A. § 2523(a)

Clerks - Prepare signs regarding deposit of ballots on/near ballot boxes

The presiding officer shall also ensure that signs informing voters of procedures for depositing ballots are placed on or near the ballot boxes before the polls open on election day. 17 V.S.A. § 2523(b)

Town Party Committees - Last day for political parties in towns with 3,000+ voters to publish notice of caucus for nomination of justices of the peace

12:00 AM to 12:00 AM

Last day for political parties in towns with more than 3,000 voters to publish notice of caucus to nominate candidates for justice of the peace in a newspaper having general circulation in the town or on a non-partisan electronic news media website that specializes in news of the State or community, and on the municipality's website, if the municipality actively updates its website on a regular basis. (one day prior to the caucus, which must be held on or before the Primary election date)  17 V.S.A. § 2413(a)(2)(B).

Voters - Last day to request early/absentee ballots (until 5:00 p.m.)

Voters, family members, authorized persons, or health care providers may request early or absentee ballots until 5:00 p.m. or the closing of the town clerk's office on this day. 17 V.S.A. § 2531(a)

Primary election – 4th Tuesday in August, even numbered years

A primary election shall be held on the fourth Tuesday in August in each even numbered year for the nomination of candidates of major political parties for all offices to be voted for at the succeeding general election, except candidates for president and vice president of the United States, their electors, and justices of the peace. 17 V.S.A. § 2351

Town Party Committees - deadline to hold caucus or for committee to meet and nominate candidates for Justice of the Peace

12:00 AM to 12:00 AM

On or before the Primary election, upon the call of the town committee, party members in town may meet in caucus and nominate candidates for justice of the peace.  17 V.S.A. § 2413(a)(1).  If no caucus is held, the town committee may meet and nominate candidates for justice of the peace.  17 V.S.A. §§ 2413(b), 2381(a)(3)

PLEASE OVERNIGHT YOUR OFFICIAL RETURN OF VOTES (ORV) to the Office of the Secretary of State, 128 State Street, Montpelier, VT 05633-1101.  We must data enter all results on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in order to have the Statewide Canvassing Report prepared for 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
